2007 Holiday Letter from the CEO, Norman Tu
December, 2007
Dear Friends,
As I reflect
on 25 years in business, I realize how very fortunate we are to have loyal customers
like you. I always tell our employees that although DCL may pay their salaries
technically, it is our customers who are responsible for our salaries, the rent
and the light bills. We appreciate your business. It is the commitment of our
entire DCL organization to continue to provide services that exceed your expectations.
2007 was a transitional year for DCL. We focused our efforts on the
fulfillment side of the business, which grew 35%. We are known to provide high-level
fulfillment services in the software industry; however, this past year we signed
up several non-traditional clients in apparel, consumer electronics, decorative
jewelry, sunglasses and medical products. Over the years, we have invested millions
of dollars in our IT infrastructure and process flows to be the best in the business.
Now that we can leverage our capabilities to industries outside of what is traditionally
classified as "high-tech," we are applying these same best business
practices and principles to our new customers and new industries. We will continue
the focus to diversify our business to other industries while continuing to provide
quality service to the software and electronics industries.
This past summer DCL went "Green". We installed a 76-kilowatt (kW) solar system at our headquarters building in Fremont. It will satisfy 36% of our electricity usage and advert over 75 tons of carbon dioxide (CO2) every year. My vision is to prove the viability of solar technology as a cost effective way to reduce operating costs, and pass these cost savings to our customers. Over time, DCL is committed to being a "Green Business," and we will continue to integrate solar technology into our current and future planned facilities in order to virtually eliminate on-site electrical consumption. DCL hopes to help set an example for using renewable solar energy, not only for our industry, but also for our community.
On behalf of everyone at DCL, we hope you have a wonderful holiday season and we look forward to working with you in 2008.
Happy Holidays,
Norman
Tu,
CEO
